Community Covenant

 Community Covenant

A Christian community is called to hold an unyielding standard and to demonstrate the deep love of Christ to others. Since all thoughts, words and deeds are perfected forever in Christ, there is no fear in holding an unyielding standard while pursuing the daily transformation of sanctification in our lives, giving thanks that we are already righteous before the judgment throne. In view of God’s mercy, the people of WCS will serve and love one another as Christ loves the Church (John 13:34, Galatians 5:13).

In light of God's command to love our neighbor as ourselves (Leviticus 19:18, Luke 10:27), we commit to the following:

·        imitating the love and the mind of Christ (I Corinthians. 2:16)

·        respecting each other (Romans 12:10)

·        recognizing and celebrating each other and our achievements (Romans 12:10)

·        helping others and being thankful when we receive help (Romans 12:4-5)

·        using our God-given gifts and abilities to the fullest (Colossians 3:23)

·        taking responsibility for our thoughts, words, and actions (Genesis 6:5)

·        practicing humility through repentance and forgiveness (Matthew 5:3-5)

This community covenant is kept only through the work of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13). Good works do nothing to merit salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9, Isaiah. 59:6), but believers commit to this covenant out of gratitude for what God has done in His grace.
