Visual Arts Program - Elementary

Emma Sloane, 4th grade - name design

The elementary visual arts program is designed to introduce students to the principles and elements of design to communicate visually. Through a variety of art projects they will gain experience with different art mediums-paint, pastels, clay, papier-mache, and more to create both 2D and 3D art. They will be introduced to God as the Master creator and learn that they are individually designed to create unique works of art. Elementary students meet for art class once a week for one hour.  For more information regarding our visual arts program, please visit the art department's website at www.wcsvisualarts.net

Twice a year, elementary students have a chance to take part in a 4-week art club which meets after school.  The club for primary-grade students is held in the fall, and the club for upper-elementary students is held during the spring semester.

Each month a student is chosen to be the “Artist of the Month” and is recognized before the rest of the elementary school.  Their artwork is on display in the school until the next month.   Art work is chosen from all of the classes to be on display in various venues throughout the year:  in-school art exhibits, the Gail Borden Library exhibit, and the ACSI Art Festival in which we compete with other ACSI schools in the general Chicagoland area.  Below are the featured "Artists of the Month" with their artwork at the elementary level for the 2011-2012 school year:
