The Art and Music programs at WCS are designed to explore and develop the creative abilities God has given to each individual. Students will be encouraged to develop an attitude of excellence in their expression both musically and artistically that allows them to grow in their appreciation of the Arts and in their understanding of God as Master Artist.
Art is woven into the curriculum beginning in preschool. Art Educator directed projects in grades 1-8 expose students to several artistic methods, in a spiraling scope and sequence, that allows them to experiment and grow. Through an on campus studio experience, students investigate the use of various mediums, techniques, elements, and principles of design. Classes such as ceramics, drawing, painting, three dimensional sculpture, and honors art give students an opportunity to build a strong foundation for collegiate study and life-long expression.
Our music program is designed to expose students to a variety of music styles and genres while developing both theory and performance. Elementary students participate in a general class that provides them a strong foundation. Beginning in 4th grade, students are also given the opportunity to participate in band to build on their musical development. Various instrumental and choral groups as well as music appreciation, music technology and music theory are offered to students in 6th through 12th grade who are interested in a more in-depth experience.
