Kindergarten – The first step… we know it is a big step for both you and your child. Westminster is prepared to come alongside of you as a partner to make the first year of school one that both you and your child will enjoy.
The basic purpose of our Kindergarten program is to promote readiness for first grade. This general purpose, along with a manageable class size, will allow us to challenge each of the children according to his or her abilities. What this means for your child is that if the child is ready to learn to read and work with basic math concepts, then we shall seek to meet that need. If your child had needs in the area of socialization, then we will seek to meet that need. And if your child has needs regarding self-esteem and needs to be successful, we will certainly seek to meet that need. We know that this is a great undertaking, but are certain that our staff is able to handle a wide range of needs and ability levels.
The goals we have for your child’s Kindergarten experience are simple. First, with the child looking forward to an additional 12-16 years of schooling, we desire to have the child enjoy school. We want them to have fun! Secondly, no matter what the ability level, we desire that all children completing WCS Kindergarten will know they can be successful.Thirdly, we desire to have your child learn more about God the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.
These three goals are really no different than the goals God has for us as adult Christians. He wants us to be joyful and rejoice and to know that we 'can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.' We believe true joy and true understanding of what it means to be successful can be found in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and will, to that end, educate your children to know Christ and to love Him above all else.
If the Lord directs you to Westminster we trust you will join with us in the important task of committing to a great year of Kindergarten. Your support and involvement will make it a success. We are here for you and your child and will do our best to make the steps manageable for you both!
