WCS Mission Statement

WCS inspires students in a grace-filled learning community to

   discover God and His creation

develop their unique gifts and abilities

display Christ confidently in their lives

Inspiring:  Communicating truth is not sufficient.  Our teachers aspire to INSPIRE!  We want to motivate and encourage students, call out the best in them, cheer them on, and build them up.  In response to God's call, we strive to inspire them to move forward as learners and followers of Christ from preschoolers to seniors in high school.

Grace-filled:  God has lavished His amazing grace on us at the cost of His Son Jesus Christ.  As a school, we want to model life in this grace throughout the day.  Spiritual growth takes place where grace is abundant.  Grace guides our approach to learning, our understanding of Jesus Christ, the way we approach discipline, and the relationships we share among students, teachers, staff, and parents.

Learning Community:  A disciple is a learner, an apprentice to Jesus.  Thus we are learning-centered, not teacher-centered.  We have great teachers, but the real test of teaching is not how well something has been taught - it is whether students are learning.  We believe that learning flourishes in a community characterized by love, encouragement, discipline, and grace.

Discover:  God has revealed Himself through His creation, His Word, and through His Son Jesus Christ.  Learning is the process of discovering who God is, what He has created, how He has made us to be His image bearers, and what Christ has done on our behalf.  As we discover our amazing God and His world, we experience wonder, awe, and joy.

Develop:  Each student is uniquely created by God and has been blessed with talents and abilities that express that creation.  Each believer in Christ has been given spiritual gifts that reflect God's work in us to build His Church and to display His glory to the world.  Our desire is to see students develop these gifts as they serve God for His glory.

Display:  Everything we have is a gift from God, and we desire to share that with others.  Our lives are on display, and Christ, who lives in every believer, is also on display.  People see Jesus at work in our thoughts, words, and actions.  We are confident in our faith - not arrogant.  We know what we believe and why we believe it.  We lovingly, graciously, and confidently share our faith, love, and hope with the world.
