Resource Services

Mission Statement

The WCS Resource Department exists to promote the academic development and discovery of individual gifts for students in need of support extending beyond the standard classroom environment.

Tiered Programming Services

Tier III - Intensive Intervention

Programmed Instruction is one-on-one specialized instruction in reading or math for the student with learning disabilities.  Programmed Instruction is coordinated with the program principal, classroom teacher, parents, and the Director of Resource Services. 

Tier II - Moderate Support

Instructional Support is individualized reinforcement of content-area learning including, but not limited to the following:

  • Reteaching of content
  • Guided study
  • Strategy instruction specific to coursework
  • Development of individual test-taking, study, and organizational strategies
  • Accountability
  • Progress monitoring
  • Academic coaching
  • Communication support
  • Cultivation of student skill sets

    Instructional Support is coordinated with the program principal, classroom teacher, parents, and the Director of Resource Services. At the middle school and high school levels, this service is provided during study hall or before/after school.  

    Organization and Study Skills Support is coordinated with the program principal, classroom teacher, parents, and the Director of Resource Services.   At the middle school and high school levels, this service is offered during study hall or at the end of the day.

    Tier I - Mild Support
    After School Homework Center is available to families to provide supervised homework completion- time afterschool in a group setting.  The supervising teacher will answer questions and assist with studying or projects at student request.

    Supported Study Hall is available to middle school students to provide direct instruction in organization and study skills, as well as accountability through progress report reviews.
